Q. Do I need a Master's degree before starting the program?
A. Yes, a Master's degree with a minimum 3.0 is required prior to starting the program.

Q. Does the College of Saint Rose have financial aid to pay for the program?
A. Yes, the main Albany campus accepts applications for financial aid. The Long Island administrative office does not handle financial aid.

Q. Can I transfer any credits from another program into this Ed Admin program?
A. No, transferred credits are not accepted for this program. You must take the entire 24-credit program with The College of Saint Rose Off-Campus Program through CITE.

Q. How is the total amount paid?
A. You pay for each class as you go - $850 approximately every six weeks.

Q. Can I miss one day of the five-day course?
A. You may not miss any part of the first day of class. However, if you miss a day of class, you must call the CITE office and speak to Lydia (ext. 815) or Ilene (ext. 834). They will give you the details of the mandatory make up assignment, which is due within one week after the course’s conclusion.

Q. If I am a Saturday student can I switch to versa Sunday (or vice)?
A. If you know that you will be missing one of your scheduled class dates, you may attend the course on the alternate weekend’s dates in lieu of doing the make up assignment. For example, if you are enrolled in the Saturday course and know that you will not be able to make one of the days, you may opt to transfer to the Sunday course; however, you would have to do the entire course on Sundays, not just the one day. You will then be able to return to your preferred day for the next course.

Q. Do you provide courses after completion of the SBL (School Building Level) Certificate?
A. Yes, we provide two courses and you get your SDL (School District Level) Certificate. We also offer two additional courses after the SDL, which will earn you a Master’s Degree.

Q. I need a Special Education course. What course will work for me?
A. Any courses with numbers beginning with SED. We offer a number of SED courses. These courses may be recognized by the NYSED to fulfill certification requirements in Special Education. Please contact the NYSED or your local BOCES for information regarding which courses will fulfill your specific requirements.

Q. I need a Reading course. What will work for me?
A. Any course with numbers beginning with RDG. We offer a number of reading courses. These courses may be recognized by the NYSED to fulfill certification requirements in Reading. Please contact the NYSED or your local BOCES for information regarding which courses will fulfill your specific requirements.

Q. I’d love to take a certain class, but I have a prior commitment for one of the days. Can I take the class?
A. Sorry, please take a different class. We do not permit absences from classes because of the accelerated nature of the courses. Should you become ill, you must make arrangements to make up the time when the course is offered again within the time allowed by the college. Credit will be granted once you have made up your seat time and have submitted all due assignments. Absences on the first day of class cannot be made up – missing any part of the first day will result in being withdrawn from the course. Students also may not make up more than one day’s absence. This will also result in being withdrawn from the course.

Q. I’d like to take a particular course, but I don’t have a car. Can I get there by public transportation?
A. All of the locations in Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan and Queens are accessible by public transportation. The locations in Long Island and Westchester generally entail taking a train and then a cab. When you register for a class, we will send you more specific directions. If you have more specific questions, please don’t hesitate to call the office at 516-221-4082 or toll free at 1-888-222-3016.
